Fielders: 3 girls 7 guys Batting:
Batting ratio: 7 guys to 3 girls, 8 guys to 4 girls. May bat more girls than guys up to 13 batters. A ghost player may be placed on the line up card to secure a batters spot. It is an out until the batter has arrived to replace the ghost player. MUST have 3 girls on the field at all times. Designated runner must be listed on the line up card. If not listed no runner is granted.
A male batter cannot be intentionally walked to get to a female batter. Intentional walk is at umpire’s discretion.
Stealing: allowed under certain conditions, pitched ball MUST cross the back corners of the plate (see rules under rules tab). NO Sr. bats, ultra’s or anything on the ASA or USSSA banned list. (see rules for other non approved bats). Sliding at home plate is mandatory, if the catcher is in possession of the ball.
Divisions: based on multiple factors, including but not limited to, ranked players, skill level of players, caliber of the team, competitive level of other teams, etc…
Team captains: Are responsible for knowing the ranking of each player and controlling any behavior considered to be unsportsmanlike by a team member. Contact COO if you need rankings.
Roster changes at the field: you cannot add a ranked player. A replacement player must be same skill level or lower. You cannot add or pick up a player if you have 10 fielders/batters, if you only have 3 girls you may add a girl. The ONLY way a player may be added at the field, is when the team roster has dropped below 10 players or the designated ratio of male (6) and female (4) players.
Hitting Middle: At coin toss a decision will be made if the pitcher is using a mask or a net. If pitchers do not agree, the pitcher who selects the net will be responsible for rolling the net on and off the field to be used each inning. If the pitcher does not want to use the net they must have full head protection (helmet). If a pitcher uses the net ONLY, they may not make any contact with the ball as a fielder until after the ball has been touched by another fielder. If the pitcher uses the net and a mask or helmet, they have to get behind the net immediately after release of the ball but may come out from behind the net after contact with the ball is made. Any pitcher hit with a batted ball, the batter is out, second offense is ejection. (bat will be removed from the game) If a pitcher not using head protection fields a batted ball, the batter will be awarded the base and the pitcher will be removed from the pitching position.
Any batted ball that hits the net on the first hit is a strike, if there are 2 strikes on the batter, the batter will be out. If the batter hits the net a second time at the same at bat, the batter will be out. If the batted ball hits the pitcher or any player the bat will be tested. If failed the bat will be removed for the day and tagged on TBS list of illegal bats. If caught using the illegal bat, the player will be suspended.
USE OF NETS: The pitcher is required to get behind the net immediately after releasing the ball. If the pitcher is not complying with this rule, they will get one warning. If pitcher continues to not comply, they will be removed from the pitching position. If the pitcher also wears a mask or helmet they may come out from behind the net after contact is made with the ball by the batter. If a pitcher does not also wear protective head gear they may not come in contact with the ball until after contact has been made by another fielder. Any thrown ball from an infielder or outfielder that hits the net is a live ball with the exception of the ball from catcher to pitcher. If the ball is dead due to not crossing plate or if a batter swings, the ball is dead. If a thrown ball hits the net and bounces in foul territory, ground rule double will be in effect.
If an umpire overhears a player stating they are going to intentionally hit up the middle, the umpire will give a warning to the team, any ball hit up the middle after the team warning will result in an ejection to that batter. If the pitcher is hit with a batted ball, the bat will be removed from the game. If a bat tester is present the bat will be tested, a tested bat that passes will be returned immediately. A failed bat will not be returned, but will be tagged on TBS illegal bat list. The bat at TBS discretion will be removed and sent for further research.
It is the responsibility of the base coach to provide the pitcher with the correct ball, to pitch to the batter. And the pitchers responsible for pitching the correct ball. Any illegal pitched ball is a dead ball to the batter and a warning to the captain. 2nd offense will be an out to the batter when the 2nd illegal ball is pitched.
